Our goal is to strive to assist low-income families of Shelby County in becoming self-sufficient. A wide variety of programs, services, and referrals reflect this accomplishment. Community Action changes people’s lives, embodies the spirit of hope, improves communities, and makes America a better place to live. We care about the entire community and we are dedicated to helping people help themselves and each other.
The West Central Community Action Outreach Offices provide client intake, needs assessment, referrals, and coordination with other community resources. Each outreach center has a certified Family Development Specialist and is occasionally assisted by senior community service employment participants and community volunteers. Outreach staff works closely with local organizations to ensure non-duplication of services and to maximize resources for resolving local poverty issues.
