Shelby County Outreach Center

The Shelby County Outreach Center provides client intake, client assessment, client referrals, and coordinates with other community resources. The outreach center has a certified Family Development Specialist, assisted by senior aides and occasionally community volunteers. Staff work closely with local organizations to insure non-duplication of services and to maximize resources for resolving local poverty issues.

The goal is to strive to assist low-income families of Shelby County in becoming self-sufficient. A wide variety of programs, services, and referrals reflect this accomplishment.

Programs offered through the Shelby County Outreach Center are: emergency food assistance, clothing room, LIHEAP, Weatherization, and utility assistance. In addition, Energy Wise kits are distributed.

Clients may receive emergency food assistance up to 4 times per year in any given calendar year.

Clients may have access to the clothing room once a week.

Special projects include a Christmas Adoption Program during the month of December.

Anyone is welcome to drop by, inquire about services, and speak with staff. Also, please inquire about any of West Central's other programs such as Head Start, WIC, Senior Aide Employment, and Child Care referrals.

Our Shelby County outreach center is also partnered with to provide nourishing, local produce to those in need throughout the community. To learn more about our partnership, please follow this link: Partnership
