The Harrison County Outreach Center provides client intake, client assessment, client referrals, and coordinates with other community resources. The outreach center has a certified Family Development Specialist, assisted by senior aides and occasionally community volunteers. Staff work closely with local organizations to insure non-duplication of services and to maximize resources for resolving local poverty issues.
The goal is to strive to assist low-income families of Harrison County in becoming self-sufficient. A wide variety of programs, services, and referrals reflect this accomplishment.
Programs offered through the Harrison County Outreach Center are: emergency food assistance, LIHEAP, Weatherization, and utility assistance. In addition, Energy Wise kits are distributed.
Clients may receive emergency food assistance up to 4 times per year in any given calendar year.
Special projects include the Christmas Adoption Program, clinets must sign up by the end of November.
Anyone is welcome to drop by, inquire about services, and speak with staff. Also, please inquire about any of West Central's other programs such as Head Start, WIC, Senior Aide Employment, and Child Care referrals.
Our Harrison County outreach center is also partnered with AmpleHarvest.org to provide nourishing, local produce to those in need throughout the community. To learn more about our AmpleHarvest.org partnership, please follow this link: AmpleHarvest.org Partnership
