Montgomery County Outreach

The Montgomery County Outreach Center provides client intake, client assessment, client referrals, and coordinates with other community resources. The outreach center has a certified Family Development Specialist, assisted by senior aides and occasionally community volunteers. Staff work closely with local organizations to insure non-duplication of services and to maximize resources for resolving local poverty issues.

The goal is to strive to assist low-income families of Montgomery County in becoming self-sufficient. A wide variety of programs, services, and referrals reflect this accomplishment.

Programs offered through the Montgomery County Outreach Center are: emergency food assistance, clothing room, LIHEAP, Weatherization, and rent and utility assistance. In addition, Energy Wise kits are distributed.

Clients may receive emergency food assistance up to once a week through September 30 and then only four times a year.

Clients may access the clothing room twice a month.

This office accepts applications for the South Iowa Regional Housing Authority (SIRHA).

Special projects include Holiday Food Baskets during the month of December.

Other staff in this office include a Family Development Self-Sufficiency Specialist (FaDSS) and it is the Women, Infant and Children (WIC) site for Red Oak/Montgomery County.

Anyone is welcome to drop by, inquire about services, and speak with staff. Also, please inquire about any of West Central’s other programs such as Head Start, WIC, Senior Aide Employment, and Child Care referrals.
